Descartes Systems Group, a leader in logistics, has unveiled its August Global Shipping Report. According to the report, U.S. container imports for July 2023 saw a 5.1% increase compared to June, reaching 2,187,810 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). While these figures indicate a 13.6% decline from July 2022, they closely match the pre-pandemic rates of July 2019. The growth for the initial seven months of 2023 stays within a 1.7% range of the same period in 2019. EVP Chris Jones of Descartes highlighted that this growth aligns with typical pre-pandemic peak season patterns.
