NextDecade Corp Advances $18.4B LNG Terminal Project

Energy producer NextDecade Corp. has announced the advancement of its $18.4 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal project at the Port of Brownsville, Texas. The terminal, Rio Grande LNG, is set to be one of the largest LNG exporters worldwide, designed to process 5.4 million metric tons of LNG per annum per compressor unit. The first phase will utilize three units, financed by nearly $6 billion from international partners including TotalEnergies and Global Infrastructure Partners.

Although an exact completion date was not disclosed, the project aims to transform South Texas's trade dynamics and supply the world with reliable, lower-carbon intensive LNG.
