As trucking companies consider electrification of their fleets, the FBI warns of heightened cyberattack risks due to the expanded attack surfaces presented by electric vehicles.

During the American Trucking Association’s Technology & Maintenance Council’s 2023 Summer Conference, experts urged the transport sector to prepare for threats from various sources, including hackers, terrorists, and foreign nations. Security measures need to focus on software, hardware, and personnel within organizations. The FBI encourages companies to report cyberattacks and to keep their IT systems updated. Additionally, industry players are being urged to develop recommended practices and participate in initiatives like the FBI’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Academy.
