Beware: Advanced Phishing Tactics Aimed at Stealing DAT Logins

We have been made aware by a follower of ours on Instagram that someone is impersonating DAT with an email address of [email protected] and sending emails to carriers stating, "WE HAD TO CANCEL SETUP: YOU HAVE A REPORT." The email contained a copied freight guard report from Carrier 411, and at the bottom, it says, "Please Respond: onedatfreight.com."

There are a few things wrong here.

  • DAT and Carrier 411 do not have any known partnership; therefore, they would never include a Carrier 411 freight guard report in an email from DAT.

  • The grammar and language are poorly written, likely because the hackers are abroad in a country I will not mention here, as I do not want to make assumptions and risk threats (learning from past mistakes).

  • Why would DAT be canceling a setup? It would be the broker canceling the setup, not DAT.

  • When you visit the website (onedatfreight.com), it appears legitimate, but it's a sophisticated scheme to prompt you to log in with your DAT credentials so they can steal them. When you click "View Latest Updates" in the bottom right corner, nothing happens. The legit DAT website is one.dat.com.

Be careful. These hackers and scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Never login to any site from a link sent via email, as you will probably have your credentials stolen.
